Housing and Property Development Will Continue To Be Front and Center During The 2024 Legislative Session

January 25, 2024

As the 2024 legislative session gets underway, look for local governments and the housing industry, including the Georgia Association of REALTORS®, to consider numerous proposals designed to manage Georgia’s housing shortage.

While industry advocates will be looking to reduce the regulatory and financial burden imposed on new development, local governments will work equally hard to prevent any threat to their authority to determine design standards or zoning regulations.

Similarly, we are likely to see several bills filed that address the continued increase in property taxes impacting most homeowners in the state, particularly those in high-growth areas.

If you are interested in tracking the specific legislation Georgia REALTORS® will be monitoring during the session, please log in here.  For these and other issues, you can access the Georgia Legislature’s tracking system.
