2019 State Legislative Wrap-up

April 11, 2019

The 2019 Legislative Session at the Georgia General Assembly has come to an end. While several issues took center stage this session, discussions on design Control, taxation, fair housing, contracts and landlord-tenant legislation was enough to keep REALTORS® busy under the Gold Dome.

REALTORS® fought successfully for legistation granting property owners additional property tax appeal rights, strengthening statute of frauds in contracting and the expansion of broadband to rural Georgia.

Legislation on restricting aesthetic design control ordinances, creating additional Fair Housing classes, reducing short term rental restrictions and removing nontax fees from tax bills did not reach final approval, but will be carried over to the next legislative session.
